I currently have two FPV capable aircraft, and they are set up as follows:

Quad Copter

A custom built quad copter with full Autopilot capabilities.  Minim OSD embeds the Autopilot’s telemetry on to the image, giving me everything such as artificial horizon, distance to home, direction to home, battery level, current amps drawn, battery left, height, speed, heading and much more.

  2. Display Device : Fatshark Predator Goggles
  3. Video RX : Built-in 5.8GHz receiver in the goggles.
  4. Video RX Antenna : Immersion RC 5.8GHz Spironet CP Antenna
  5. Video TX : Immersion RC 600mW 5.8GHz transmitter
  6. Video TX Antenna : Immersion RC 5.8GHz Spironet CP Antenna
  7.  Video Camera :  PZ0420 Camera
  8. OSD : Minim OSD
  9. Autopilot / RTH : HK Pilot Mega
  10. Autopilot / RTH GPS : UBlox LEA-6H GPS
  11. OSD Current and Voltage Measurement : HKPilot Power Module (also powers the Autopilot and OSD)
  12. GPS Tracking Device :  TK 102 GPS Tracker (Self contained and powered, sends me it’s position if I SMS it)

Bixler 2

A no-nonsens, back to basics FPV fun plane.  Absolutely no OSD or Autopilot.  So if the image goes blank, or I go too far and lose radio, it goes down…

  1. Platform : Bixler 2
  2. Display Device : Fatshark Predator Goggles
  3. Video RX : Built-in 5.8GHz receiver in the goggles.
  4. Video RX Antenna : Immersion RC 5.8GHz Spironet CP Antenna
  5. Video TX : Immersion RC 600mW 5.8GHz transmitter
  6. Video TX Antenna : Immersion RC 5.8GHz Spironet CP Antenna
  7.  Video Camera : Camera bundled with the goggles.
  8. OSD : None
  9. Autopilot / RTH : None
  10. Autopilot / RTH GPS : None
  11. OSD Current and Voltage Measurement : None
  12. GPS Tracking Device : None, but I should be able to make space for the TK 102 GPS Tracker (Self contained and powered, sends me it’s position if I SMS it)

Hardware I’m Interested In

Fatshark Base Goggles – better display and optics than the Predator and adjustable IPD (distance between eyes).  No built in RX, so need to buy a Video RX (see below).

Boscam 5.8GHz receiver – works with the Immersion RC TX I have and will be needed should I get the BASE goggles.

Turnigy RTH Autopilot – basic no-nonsense autopilot with RTH (Return to Home) capabilities for about 1/2 the price of an Ardupilot.
